I’m a web and mobile app developer currently leading a team at Westpac Bank in Perth, Australia.

I graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2006 with a double degree in Electrical Engineering and Physics.

In 2007 I moved to the US and got a job working for a large aerospace and defense contractor called Rockwell Collins. I spent 5 years writing control systems for US Army and US Airforce vehicles. Some of my favourite programs were the US Army Future Combat System and the US Airforce Blue Devil 2 airship.

In 2011 I came back to Australia and started working at start-up called Inhouse Insights. I developed a retail analytics system that would provide google analytics style reports for brick and mortar retailers.

In 2012 I joined Imdex where I created mobile apps and a cloud data solution to help drillers and geologists in mining exploration.

Since 2015 I’ve been at Westpac bank leading a team building the user interface of a beautifully designed investment platform called BT Panorama.

In my free time I like participating Perth developer community meetups and I volunteer at local primary schools teaching kids how to code.

I also make apps in my spare time, you check some out here: Best Baby, Kid’s Health Tracker and Megan Nielsen Patterns.

If you want to get in touch I blog here, I tweet here and my email address is nielsencfm@gmail.com
